While I often worry that some of my online stuff might have some kind of negative impact on me if I become a published author, Laurell K. Hamilton just posted a picture of her ass on her Facebook page. It is not a separate, private page. This is the one she talks about writing and promotes her books on.

Really I just had to say that. Because why should I suffer alone. Who posts a picture of their ass on the social media they use for work?! Unless they're an ass model or something.

Please tell me you're joking.

...You aren't, are you?

Now I'M beginning to wonder if LKH's career is an elaborate masterpiece of trolling.

Truth, yo.

And if it helps, Illira, I think your writing is brilliant, and if it comes back to you later in a professional sphere, it'll be other people going "Hey, she had this bullshit figured out way back when. She's smart!"

Not that it probably matters, except to some part of my brain that isn't explaining itself, but was it a clothed ass?

...that's almost prompting the question "of what sort?" At the dance time, I'm just wondering why someone would allow that on their social media feed.

That is one good point about her social media - she makes me feel so much better about my chances of being published.

Well, judging from Affliction you could write in a continuous stream of consciousness without ever once going back to read what you wrote until you get a whole book's worth of repetition, spelling mistakes, and continuity errors (including changing a child's gender in the middle of a paragraph) and still get a book deal. So there's that.

In all fairness, Hamilton already HAD a book deal and a following, and the publisher might have been more interested in taking the 'guaranteed' AB sales than in having any sort of dignity.

Though they do have some standards. Am I the only one who thinks they refused to take Shutdown for love or money?

If LKH offered them her version of love to take it, I'm sure they ran away screaming.
