And they're all right smack in the middle of the path of Sandy. How in the world did it happen that I live in Florida, and we haven't even lost power from any storms for years, but now my father, stepmother, and 8 other family members are getting slammed by what is possibly one of the worst hurricanes ever? (Global climate change, of course, but I can understand that intellectually but still be completely confused emotionally.)
They should all be okay -- they're not directly on the seaboard, none of them are disabled, they all have homes, and they can take care of each other if the worst happens. I'm still pretty freaked out though. And really, after the past couple years, with my disability, the Colorado fires, and so many people I know being unable to find a steady job, I'm at the point where I'm constantly expecting disaster.
If you're in Sandy's path, stay safe.
