Scientology Watching-Watching

 So I've been watching the goings-on of Scientology and their opposition for a while now. It's enjoyable because it's heartening. Here is an evil organization headed by an evil person that is failing, largely because of people speaking out against it. It's nice to watch a problem that is solvable, rather than deal with the seemingly-insurmountable, and more widely dangerous, problems in society. Like the Catholic church inserting itself into my ovaries, misogyny in every part of society, right-wingers being despicable, lack of universal health care in the U.S., etc.

Prop 8 overturned

 California's Proposition 8 banning same-sex marriage was overturned in court today.

When the federal amendment granting women the vote was finally passed, women in most states could already vote. (Michigan was one of those that allowed women to vote in everything; Florida only allowed women municipal suffrage in some elections. I miss living in Michigan.)

Same thing's happening with same-sex marriage. The people opposing it are going to screech and scream and kick and whine and fear and fail. They need some Klingon wisdom. As Kahless' heir said on TNG:

Long ago, a storm was heading for the city of Quin'lat. Everyone took protection within the walls except one man who remained outside. Kahless went to him and asked what he was doing. "I am not afraid," the man said. "I will not hide my face behind stone and mortar. I will stand before the wind and make it respect me." Kahless honored his choice and went back inside. The next day, the storm came, and the man was killed, as the wind does not respect a fool.
