HAHAHA THE FACT SHE'S TOTALLY AKASHA IS ON MY LIST
For me, it's the femininity that makes me like her. I firstly love the idea of a primordial entity that is just this Lovecraftian embodiment of darkness, and then making it not just female but a mother. I grew up Catholic and really attached to the Virgin Mary, and I actually still keep iconography of Mary in my room despite being an atheist because even if I don't believe, I still get a feeling of comfort from her image, it's just that ingrained. So an all-mother that is dangerous rather than nurturing just turns that really deep personal thing of mine on its head AND I LOVE IT.
But that is, as I said, a really personal thing particular to me so I can totally see why the same wouldn't be true for anyone else...especially since the idea of this evil feminine mother-entity totally raise a lot of potentially misogynist tropes and I do think that's more the case than not with why LKH made her definitely-female. I'd still rather that than a def-male one that would doubtless hit on Anita (I don't think LKH could conceive of a genderless entity)
