And the idea that pretty people are always very white and have what our culture (erroneously) thinks of as "white" features seems particularly ingrained in modern vampire lit. I have the obvious moral problems with that, but I also have serious aesthetic problems with it. My brain gets bored of seeing the same thing over and over. Plus, I just don't find people whose skin is literally the color of paste hot, but it's treated like this is the most sexy thing possible and everyone must agree. Then, as a very pale person myself, I also get this weird feeling like my skin tone is being fetishized. That's the least of the problems, but still, ick.
