Pink people everywhere

I got an e-mail from H20+ today about "staff favorites". There are pictures of the staff who are favoriting things. Only one man (unsurprising and it does not bother me), 3/5 blonde (sigh), and one person who isn't "white". She still has very light skin. I get weirded out when I see walls of white people looking at me now. It looks off -- that's not what my community has looked like since I was 20ish. But it's especially an issue when it's with a skincare company. The whole "light skin is more beautiful" prejudice is still strongly embedded in our and many other cultures, and besides being total bullshit, it's very harmful. As total bullshit always is.
I'm using a Yukiko icon because in Persona 4, (bit of a spoiler, but you learn this early) Chie is jealous of Yukiko for having such "pretty" white skin. And while Chie is jealous, Yukiko feels completely useless, because she feels like she's defined by that prettiness. Her name even means "snow", which she feels defines her supposed dull pointlessness. Always being called pretty for her light skin has made her feel that's all there is to her. This is an awesome example of how stuff like this hurts all women. Chie feels bad about not being light enough, but Yukiko feels that her coveted light skin is all people see. She is jealous of Chie because Chie has forged her own identity.
And I'm sick of white people everywhere. IT IS BORING.
