She never presents herself as Bella the Future Biologist, or Bella the Future English Teacher, or Bella the Future Restaurant Chef, or Bella the Wicked Skilled Ice Driver. She's meant to be intelligent in order to be a suitable partner for sophisticated Edward, and therefore reasonably good at school--pretty much an informed ability, especially given later events in her life and her dubious literary interpretation techniques. She's meant to be domestically inclined, although she doesn't want to be Bella the Stay-At-Home Mom either throughout most of the books. She only wants to be Edward's Girlfriend. *That's* unrealistic and unempowered--every "ordinary" girl is allowed to have some kind of talent or dream.
