Good on you for figuring out what works for you and what doesn't, and to resist the temptation of the latter!
Myself, I write 1,000 words a day, but they have to be good words. They can't be padding, ceaseless descriptions, etc., and they have to be good words, words I don't want to delete. And they have to be on a current project, I can't just write them about what my rats are up to or my Sailor Moon headcanons, etc. So far this is working for me :) But this has less to do with "length = better!" and more to do with "I have to learn to make myself write" because I will slack off loads if I don't.
