No, there's never any reason given. Which leads me to believe that rather than it being an in-universe thing, LKH just simply never thought of the idea that they could. I am 100% sure that if there were an in-universe explanation, it would have come up by now, multiple times, given how she likes to explain shit we already know over and over (even in Kiss the Dead she reminds us how supernaturals have super-senses NO FUCKING DUH)
If it ever hits her, it'll go like this 1) She'll shoehorn in some reason why therians can't use faith against vampires that will probably not make sense and/or contradict canon in some way
2)Have the therians do just that, and never explain why they didn't just do it before
