Through all the millennia the MOAD has been around, only Anita is special enough to be a woman who enjoys sex and feels a true bond to the men she has sex with! And of course love can only be sexual! OH GOD EW I NEVER EVEN SPOTTED THAT BUT THAT'S TRUE UGH
I've heard the acusation that Catholics "worship" Mary and the saints a lot but I never considered there could be a sexist undercurrent to that...I can def see it though. Mary's not exactly a perfect feminist paragon (only sinless person = virgin AND a mother!) but she was the only figure I connected to and I do think her womanhood had to do with that.
And then there's that we're supposed to find the MOAD frightening because she's ~darkness personified ooOOOOooo~. Which sounds like a good thing to me, why am I supposed to find this scary? See, I'm the same way, that sounds like a good-to-neutral thing to me, which is another reason why I like her concept because I like the idea of playing with this idea ("darkness = bad") which is just such a human concept that is based on judging aspects of nature as good or evil based on their harm vs benefit to humans and how foolish that is because things in nature, and the MOAD herself, are just BEYOND humanity and don't give a shit and that's what's truly scary to us...but that is not the route LKH went at all. She just played it straight with "dark is spooky!" and so what I actually like is more my projections of what I would have *liked* to see happen.
...actually, that's how it is with everything I "like" in the Anitaverse, come to think of it. Sad.
