I don't think I can stop using the author as the subject of sentences. That's been how I've been taught to write about books since middle school. And when there are misogynistic, etc. attitudes consistently throughout the text, that does show what the author's attitudes are. With LKH, we have another reference in her blogs to show that yes, she really does think this way. But I will try harder to not make it too personal.
