Yes, but vampires have been around at least as long as human beings, and in those terms, French is an incredibly recent language. But LKH has them all using French terms for everything -- well, sort of, it's actually gibberish, but she thinks it's French. Which really highlights how terrible her worldbuilding is. Did vampire culture unlearn Latin and Greek when the western Roman Empire fell? Did they embrace Latin and Greek in the first place, or was their culture clinging to ancient Babylonian or something even older? What about vampires in China, and why is vampire culture divided along the same international lines as human culture anyway, and why is human culture exactly the same as it is in our world (but stupider of course) when humans have always known that vampires and werewolves and magic are really real?
