LKH Danse Macabre -- what have I gotten myself into again
So I seem to be stuck in Twilight. I want to finish it, but the hatehatehatehatehate perspective of the main character is just too much for me in my current low-spoons state, and I can't make myself pick it up again. I'm in the mood to do what I was doing with Twilight, but with a book I can read faster. And I wanted to pick on an author I would have no compunctions about being mean to. Plus I wanted to be able to add something, not just do what dozens before me have already done.
Laurell K. Hamilton it is. I've never seen anyone who's experienced in BDSM analyze her Anita Blake books, or seen anyone pick them over from the perspective of accepting all smut all the time. So hopefully I can do something a little different than the many amusing and insightful people who have come before me. And maybe the books will be so ridiculous, they will provide more entertainment and less hatehatehatehatehate than Twilight. Also, I've noticed similarities between the writing style of Stephenie Meyer and LKH, and I need more evidence.
I'm going to start with Danse Macabre. I picked this one because: 1) I don't want to do the whole catalog. 2) I am not touching Narcissus in Chains, LKH's shark-jumping moment, with a 10-foot pole. 3) Danse Macabre is her best-selling book. 4) I've seen Danse Macabre described as her worst book more often than any other.
